How to buy US Treasury Notes (T-Notes) on TreasuryDirect.gov?

TreasuryDirect.gov is the official Website of
The US Treasury Department for investors to bid and redeem
T-Notes directly.
Any one with a US tax ID can open an account on TreasuryDirect.gov. Here are the steps to place a non-competitive bid for a T-Note.
1. Login to your TreasuryDirect.gov account.
2. Click the "BuyDirect" tab. You see a list of Treasury Securities offered on TreasuryDirect.gov.
3. Select "Notes - Medium-term fixed-principal securities of 2 to 10 years". You see a list of upcoming T-Notes auctions.
4. Select a 10-year T-Note or any one you want.
5. Specify $10,000 as the amount of par value, also called face value, you want to buy and from which bank account you want to withdraw the fund.
6. Submit the bid and wait until the auction date.
7. Login to your account after the auction, and go to "History > Security History". You will see the purchase transaction detail.
Note that non-competitive bids are always accepted with the highest yield determined at competitive auction.
